Part #2: From Addiction to Regeneration
War is an Addiction. The real reason is human consumption and convenience.
How The System Keeps Us Hooked
Let’s be real. The “matrix” thrives on our addictions. Sugar, screens, shopping, drama, competition, drugs and ultimately, power. Us consuming, keep us numb, keep us distracted. Meanwhile, the “few” at the top are just as hooked, their drug of choice is greed, power, control, and they want more, more, and more. The result is a world where over-consumption becomes the root of WAR. Nations fight for resources because we, as a species, are never satisfied. Humanity’s collective addiction to “more” is what creates the real "drug dealer". Governments and corporations.
Here's the truth they don't want us to see: addiction isn't our fault - it's the business model.
Think about it.
Our entire economic system depends on people who never feel satisfied. People who always need more. People who confuse wanting with living.
Food companies don't just make products - they engineer cravings. They hire scientists to find the exact combination of sugar, salt, and fat that hijacks your brain's reward system. They study your weaknesses like military strategists study enemy territory.
Tech companies don't build tools - they build traps. They employ teams of neuroscientists and behavioral psychologists to make their apps as addictive as slot machines. They harvest your attention like farmers harvest crops, then sell it to the highest bidder.
Social media doesn't connect you - it isolates you while making you feel connected. It feeds you just enough validation to keep you hungry for more. It turns your relationships into content and your life into performance.
The pharmaceutical industry doesn't heal - it manages. They create customers for life instead of actually solving problems. Why cure depression when you can treat it forever? Why address root causes when symptoms pay so much more?
The financial system doesn't serve - it enslaves. It encourages debt like a drug dealer encourages addiction. It keeps you trapped in cycles of earning and spending that transfer your life force upward to people who already have everything.
This isn't accident. This isn't evolution. This is a system to feed “the few” with more power and control, by design. A capitalistic - plutocratic culture from centuries ago. Currently, wanting to become a technocratic culture.

The more addicted we become, the more "money" they make. Our emptiness becomes their abundance. Our struggle and pain becomes their profit. Our desperate searching becomes their endless market.
They need us sick to stay rich. They need us hungry to stay fed. They need us addicted to stay in power.
If you want to help to stop war, make sure you start with yourself, then start or join a community of like-minded souls to take greater action. And stop feeding the “monster system”.
If you are pro-war. You are confused my friend / a psychopath just like those war creators. From the greek words: Psyche = Soul -&- Pathos = Suffering
My Journey from Hell to Healing
As mentioned on Part #1 of this article, my transformation wasn't gentle. It was radical, difficult, consistently suffering a mental and body crisis, most of it was all at once. However I took the challenge, I started with the basics of the whole list of addictions I mentioned. I started by completely stopping alcohol. That was over 15 years ago. Soon after, a “domino effect“ of unhealthy habits were falling away, while dark shadows and traumas were appearing in my face.
Radical transformational healing was tough, very tough. I realized I had a lot to work on myself. It was overwhelming and shocking! I cried a lot, for days and weeks, yet I knew that I was going to be ok. I was just going through it the best I could. Just letting go of my old me, and reprogramming new ways of thinking, of acceptance, of comprehending the world around me. It was a time frame of about three long years of dying and being reborn, over and over again. I am now grateful and humble for those times.
Being aware of how all this degenerative society works, building will-power and establishing a certain level of discipline, helped me really gain enough energy and momentum to commit toward changing to a new lifestyle and stick with it.
One strategy I discovered and found very helpful for me when I was being desperate for change, is to radically use the same force of addiction the opposite way. I “flipped the switch”, from being addicted to things that harm, to things that actually heal me. Transforming my thinking and body pattern completely.
Year 1: The Great "No"
The first new pattern I started with, is using my “addiction to heal” method, by reprogramming with the word "No”. Becoming addicted by saying “No” to myself and others. Anything offered to me or any possibility that showed up, it followed with a big “NO” from me. It didn’t matter how much I desired it, or even if was actually good for me, I would still say “No”, of course that it follow with a “Thank You”. Hence, I also use to produce events, teach salsa classes and frequent bars and clubs at that time. So I was still in the night life scene. So imagine how hard it was when friends, bartenders, owners, people I meet, would be buying me drinks all the time. They had the drink in their hands, ready for me to just receive it, with respect, still I would say “No Thank you”. I was firm with it by shaking my head with a smile, showing gratitude with my hands in prayer position and walk away. If I were to say yes to something, I would brake the pattern which would mess up my commitment and building my will-power. Notice that I included a combination of my thought, my words and body movement. Affirming my decision, thus reprogramming my patterns.
So after some time and many repetitions, I became addicted to saying no. I loved it. It was automatic. No to alcohol. No to parties. No to junk food. No to toxic people. No to the thousand small compromises that had eaten my soul alive.
People thought I'd lost my mind. Friends stopped calling. Family worried I was becoming "too serious." But for the first time in my life, I was understanding my mind. Discovering myself. I was remembering what it felt like to be alive instead of just surviving. Each time I would say no, it was doing something inside of me, rebuilding me from the inside out. It was feeling really good. I was also noticing that I was inspiring other people when they would see me say “no” to things most people say “yes” to.
Year 2: Learning to Live Again
Saying “No” had created space. But space without direction is just emptiness with better lighting.
I dove deep into everything I'd avoided while numbing myself. Breathing became my medicine. Meditation became my sanctuary. Movement became my prayer. Books became my teachers when I had no human guides nor who to talk to, and not much information about this could found online around that time, 2007 - 2010.
I had to learn how to live all over again on my own. Because, guess what? Nobody is going to come to save me. I began to learn how to prepare my own healthy food, how to be clean and organized my home, how to not have stuff I don’t need, how to think without substances, how to sleep better, how to breath and feel my heart, and overall how to be.
Year 3: Discovering Purpose
Something beautiful happened as I healed. The more whole I became, the more I wanted to serve something bigger than myself. The more connected I felt to my own life force, the more I could feel everything around me.
This led me to permaculture, community building, psychedelic plant medicines, ancient wisdom, and music. This showed me we're all connected at levels deeper than thought. To understanding that my healing and the Earth's healing are the same sacred work.
The broken man who stared at himself in that mirror would never have believed what was coming. It's been 15 years, where I have created over 500 hundred events, helping a few thousand people become aware that we are connected to all life. After starting from nothing, with no money, no community, no family, no purpose, no vision. I now have a beautiful love partner for the past 10 years, where we have given birth to our brand called SEEDS, regenerative culture retreats that help people detox, heal and radically transform their life into a regenerative lifestyle.
We are also building RAiZ Ecovillage, rising from ancient wisdom to become a Regenerative Sanctuary for modern times. Today, I am proud to share this story, where I see myself back then and now, to tell you that it is possible to change. It takes time, commitment, challenges, and overall a heart full of love, mainly loving yourself and the world around you.
Around the world, the regenerative movement is spreading across continents in light speed, naturally. Thousands of people, communities, ecovillages, organizations are taking action for a better world. It is happening. Not only the negative actions we see on the news and social media, but what is not seen as well. A new humanity is rising, and you are part of it.
But it all started with one decision: to stop running from the truth...
Why This Matters for Our Planet
Here's the truth that changed everything for me: individual addictions don't stay individual.
They ripple outward like stones thrown into still water. They create waves that crash against shores we never intended to touch.
Our addiction to convenience creates mountains of plastic that choke our oceans. Our addiction to cheap stuff feeds factories where children work in conditions we'd never accept for our own kids. Our addiction to being right, fuels the political divisions tearing our communities apart. Our addiction to comfort prevents us from making the changes our planet is begging us to make.
But here's the miracle I discovered: healing works the same way.
When you break free from destructive patterns, you don't just change your life - you change the field around you. You become a different signal broadcasting a different frequency. You start making choices automatically that heal rather than harm.
When you quit poisoning yourself with junk food, you support farmers who regenerate soil instead of destroying it. When you stop consuming mindlessly, you reduce the demand for exploitation. When you heal your need for external validation, you free up energy to serve something sacred.
Personal healing becomes planetary healing, a natural consequence.
This is why ancestors always said: to heal the world, first heal yourself. Not because the world doesn't matter, but because you, all of us and the world are one living system breathing together. It is to be coherent in service to all life.

The Regenerative Culture Solution
This is why I'm so passionate about regenerative culture. It's not just about personal development or environmental activism. It's about creating new ways of living that support wellness instead of addiction. A collective of people re-creating new healthy habits. Thus, creating the conditions all around us that help create systems that benefit us all.
Instead of systems designed to extract from people and planet, we're building systems that restore and regenerate:
Local economies that keep wealth in communities.
Food systems that heal soil while nourishing bodies.
Governance that includes everyone's voice.
Education that develops whole human beings.
Healthcare that addresses root causes.
Technology that serves all life.
We're doing this at RAiZ Ecovillage in Ecuador, where we're transforming a 35-year-old permaculture farm into a living model of a Regenerative Sanctuary.
Living in Coherence
Breaking free from addictions is just the beginning. The real magic happens when you start living in coherence - when your thoughts, words, and actions all align to the benefit of all life.
I wrote a recently wrote another article about this called "Living in Coherence: The Foundation of Regenerative Culture". Is not as long as this one, but goes deep into how this works. The short version is: when you align with life's natural patterns, favorable synchronicities start happening.
You become a clear signal that attracts people, opportunities, and resources aligned with your highest purpose.
Your Path to Freedom: Exit & Build
Exit the current destructive system, and Build a new one, one that actually cares for life. Exit and Build is a phrase
from the Conscious Resistance and John Bush from Live Free Academy advocate for and who I personally admire and met when Pola and I were speakers at The People’s Reset in Mexico the past few years.Derrick and John are also part of the regenerative movement in their own way. They too come from heavy addictions and harsh lives, now they are doing great inspiring work in service to the world, leading the way. A great example just like thousands of other people out there taking action. Check out their pages to learn about their stories and their work.
If you're reading this and feel something stirring inside you - a recognition, a remembering, a quiet "yes" rising from places deeper than thought - then you're ready.
Ready to stop being a consumer and start being a creator. Ready to stop feeding the machine that's devouring our planet and start building systems that regenerate life.
But here's what I learned the hard way: you can't figure this out alone. The same culture that created your addictions will keep you trapped if you try to heal within it.
This is why I've spent years distilling everything I learned into principles that actually work. Not theory from books, but lived wisdom from transformation. Not ideas about change, but the actual map from addiction to regeneration.
I am not saying I have the ultimate solution for everyone, but this worked for me, it may work for you too. Though, the main thing to make this work is for you to really want change, to have the courage to take action, to take the risks, to activate and train your will power, and to love yourself for real. You can also do it on your own, and I trust you will do amazing. However, by having tools and community backing you up, this can be a lot smoother and faster.
I want to share the following with you. For free of course.
I've created something called "Regenerative Culture Principles: Your Foundation for Radical Life Transformation" - a guide that gives you the exact framework that transformed my life and the lives of hundreds of people who've walked this path with us.
This isn't another self-help program promising easy answers. This is the real work. The sacred work. The work of becoming who you came here in this reality to be.
These principles can also help new and establish communities improve their relationships with themselves and others.
Why Start Now?
Because every day you wait, the patterns get stronger, getting harder for when you finally decide to take action. You become unhealthier by the days and years. Plus the longer you stay trapped in what is recognized as the "Matrix", the world loses what you came here to contribute.
But more than that - because there's a window opening right now. A crack in the old world where the new world is breaking through. Communities are forming. Land is being healed. New economies are being born. Children are being raised differently. There is a wave, a huge momentum.
The future is being created by people who chose to heal instead of harm. To regenerate instead of extract. To serve life instead of serving the machine. Starting now is basically the best time to start.
